Fu Jen Child Care Center
Fu Jen Child Care Center
Fu Jen Child Care Center was established in 1974 by Sr. Urbania, the then Chair of the Department of Home Economics, with the help of many experts. In 1978, it was officially recognized by the Bureau of Social Affairs. The center primarily provides child care service and pre-school education for the children of staff and faculty members as well as families in the Hsinchuang community. At the same time, it functions as a laboratory for the students of the Department of Child and Family Studies.
Presently, based upon different age groups, there are seven classes offered by the center. The faculty consists of 1 director, 3 staff members, and 17 teachers with diploma and professional training in the field of early childhood education.
The center holds the educational philosophy that "Learning is a process of self-motivated exploration." Thus, the course design tends to encourage children to interact with the environment, their peers and their teachers spontaneously, and by doing so, to develop a positive attitude towards learning. Inspired by the ideas of open education, the classes are mostly based upon learning-centered activities, and complemented by group and peer activities.
The center holds parental meetings regularly in the hope that through the interaction between parents and teachers, the future generation can get the best education.
