Introduction

Starting from 2002, the computer and information centers established and managed by different colleges and the three Constituent Groups are integrated into the Center of Information Technology. The mission of the Center is to provide technology services to the University community and to foster campus-wide IT planning and collaboration.

Goals and Future Prospect

The missions of the Center are to provide sufficient computing facilities and to create a high-quality computing environment that improves the efficiency of teaching, research, and administration, and achieves the goals of the e-University.

Short-term Goals

pointer Develop and integrate administration information and electronic service system.

pointer Establish electronic/computerized teaching and research environment.

pointer Maintain a stable computer and information network.

pointer Support administrative affairs, teaching, research, management and strategic planning.

pointer Implement Fu Jen administration system.


Long-term Goals

pointer Enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Fu Jen administration, service and management.

pointer Improve the quality of teaching and learning.

pointer Provide the University faculty members and researchers an excellent research environment.

pointer Achieve the goals of an eFJU and of becoming an integrated research university among the first ranks of the world.



eFJU Short-term Development and Services

After the integration in 2002, the Computer and Information Networking Center is dedicated to the IT planning and collaboration among administrative and academic units within the University community. The services currently provided by the Center include:

pointer A data delivery infrastructure to facilitate the administrative affairs,

pointer The FJU Homepage,

pointer Services that provides students, faculty and staff with remote dial-up and on-campus access on the basis of a "single sign on" authentication to the campus backbone network and campus computing resources,

pointer Implementation of a multilingual homepage,

pointer Installation of the Blackbaud fundraising software for the Educational Advancement Office,

pointer Implementation of the Alumni Development System for the Alumni and University Relations Office,

pointer Installation of the Financial Accounting system for the Accounting Office,

pointer An Integrated General Affairs system for the Office of General Affairs,

pointer Campus Backbone Network & Internet Services,

pointer Implementation of a Security system to guard against computer hackers, viruses, and spam mail,

pointer Installation of ADSL in University dormitories,

pointer Information service for the new General Medical Building,

pointer Implementation and maintenance of the facilities in University-wide computer laboratories,

pointer Purchasing licensed software and signing yearly contract with software distributors, and

pointer Collaboration with the Office of General Affairs to establish a Repair Center to provide servicefor the University students, faculty and staff.
