The History Office

Fu Jen University

The History Office

The Fu Jen Catholic University History Office was founded in 1980. In 1991, the university approved the addition to the office of the Chinese Catholic Heritage Museum.

The History Office preserves many artifacts, records, photographs and memorabilia of interest to all who treasure the proud history¡Xnow 80 years in duration¡Xof the largest Catholic university in Taiwan. The purpose of the History Office is to preserve as many of the great memories of the founding years of Fu Jen in early 20th century as possible, but also to trace the previous development of the university as an important contributor to the education of thousands of students over the years.

The Chinese Catholic Heritage Museum is a particularly apt addition to the History Office¡¦s collection of artifacts and historical data. Although Catholics in Taiwan remain a tiny minority of the general population, the government and people of Taiwan have appreciated the work and devotion of missionary Sisters, Brothers and priests from all over the world who have raised the quality of life and human spirit in Taiwan, particularly from the 1950¡¦s to the present time.

The museum tells the story of the Catholic Church in Taiwan (and greater China), which has preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ by service in hospitals, social service programs, churches, clinics and schools. The History Office and Chinese Catholic Heritage Museum are opened to the public, and interested visitors are requested to view the facility by appointment. Please call (02) 2905-3046. The location of the History Office is: Yeh Sheng Lou, Room YP411, Central Administration Building.
