Professor Bernard Li
6th President of Fu Jen Catholic University

Professor Bernard Li was appointed the 6th President of Fu Jen Catholic University on February 1, 2004. Before becoming President, he served as the Dean of Academic Affairs, Dean of Student Affairs, Director of the Social Science Library, Chair Department of Philosophy, and Director of the Scholastic Research Center at Fu Jen Catholic University. He is on the Council of numerous committees for the Ministry of Education, ROC. Professor Li brings to his new position a diverse background as a university administrator and as a scholar in Western Philosophyand Catholic belief.



Professor Li holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Fu Jen Catholic University. His academic fields include ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology. He is the author of more than ten scholarly books, and more than 200 articles on Chinese and Western Philosophy.

His wife, Maria Cheng, is a counseling psychologist, and is a former faculty member in the Department of Social Work, Fu Jen Catholic University. They have one son and one daughter.
