FJU, biggest winner of gold medals among private universities, ranked fifth in Taiwan in 2016 National Intercollegiate Athletic Games

The closing ceremony of the five-day 2016 National Intercollegiate Athletic Games (NIAG) was held on the main campus of National Taitung University. FJU won a total of 47 medals, including 22 gold, 10 silver,and 15 bronze. Surpassing its record of 16 gold medals in 2015, FJU was ahead of all private universities in that category in 2016. FJU finished in fifth place among all universities in Taiwan. 
 
In the 2016 NIAG, five events met the Olympic Selection Time (OST) / “B” time standard, one tied the OST/ “B” time standard, and still another event broke the national record. In addition, two events set new NIAG records and 32 broke NIAG records. All of the first four winners in the men’s 200-meter freestyle met the OST/ “B” time standard. In addition, FJU star athlete Wang yülian (王郁濂),also set a new record in the 2016 NIAG.
